Do You Take Your Business Seriously?
Internet marketing can be a very lucrative business, if you run it like a business. One problem I see in far too many up and coming internet marketers businesses is a lack of planning and tracking of results – which is exactly what I’m going to cover in this article.
When I got started in internet marketing I never really had a plan of action, I simply built websites and waited to see what happened…I didn’t run them like they were a real business. As a result, I didn’t used to get paid like a business, I got paid like my websites were hobbies – and that’s all they really were. As I became more successful online, this was one of the first things I changed and saw huge improvements in my bottom line as a result.
One of the easiest ways you can begin to take you business seriously is by measuring your results regularly. There are a number of things you can measure as an internet marketer, but what you really should be measuring is something that reflects your performance and ultimately your earnings.
As you may already know, about 90% of my business is based around SEO, as such, the most obvious and logical thing for me to measure and track are my search engine rankings. By doing this I’m able to have a clear idea of my progress and can see at a glance exactly what I need to do to strengthen my business which results in more money in my pocket. I can also see very easily if there are any weaknesses in my business and am able to create a plan to address them.
In the video below I talk more about how I measure my business and show you a few easy ways you can do the same thing. I highly recommend you start monitoring your results as it’s the only real way to keep track of where you are as an internet marketer…

Hey Aidan,
Very practical tips in your vid. Scheduling especially is an important one, making sure you gather data over time at pre-defined timeframes.
You mention Market Samurai. I own both MS and Micro Niche Finder, but hardly ever use MS. MNF is just so easy to use. Would be great if in upcoming posts/vids you could demonstrate how you make use of Market Samurai.
Cheers
Kieran
PS. your new look blog is far more professional
Hey Kieran,
Glad you found the video useful and like the new look blog – much better isn’t it. I’ll keep the Market Samurai video idea in mind – interesting to hear that you find MNF more user friendly…
Cheers,
Aidan

Thanks Aidan that’s a great idea of tracking low key. I certainly cannot afford Market Samurai right now, although it is a great program I really enjoyed using it during one of the 30 Day Challenges. I can easily keep track on my own as you show above. Thanks for the tip.

Wow. Those are really simple things anyone can do and I think it’s great stuff! As a beginner, I now know that this is one area that I will definitely start working on. I don’t want to wait a few months down the road and wish that I had started it sooner. What an inspiring article, thanks Aidan!
