Follow These Internet Marketing Gurus
Today I wanted to give some advice that a friend of mine gave me when I was getting started. What this advice is, it to find about 4 gurus and follow them. Stay up to date with what they are doing and their strategies.
The reason this is important is because it’s a great way to keep learning and to maintain motivation. There are a heap of so called “internet marketing gurus”, some are the real deal while others are just hot air, so choose carefully.
I personally follow a number of “expert” internet marketers, some from PPC backgrounds, others from SEO backgrounds, some who specialize in launching their own products and others who are full time affiliate marketers. I try to follow people who are experts in different fields, so I deliberately don’t follow 4 PPC experts, or 4 SEO experts, I try to mix it up so I can learn a little from each.
Here are a few of the big IM players I follow closely:
Steven Clayton – Steve has created a number of hot products that have gone on to become best sellers at Clickbank. Steven has a heap of knowledge not only about internet marketing but business in general. He has a very simplistic yet professional approach. To learn more about Steven Clayton click here: Steven Clayton (Steve has launched a number of quality internet marketing products including Commission Blueprint 1 and 2, Niche Blueprint 1 and 2, SEM Business Blueprint and now is about to release Niche Blueprint 3.
Mark Ling – Mark is another guy I really have a lot of time for. He is genuine, down to earth, and a super affiliate to boot. Mark has a range of products including Traffic Travis and AffiloBlueprint, both of which are fantastic. Mark is a great guy to follow especially as a newbie because he has puts so much time into helping people get started. Learn more about Mark here: Mark Ling
Adam Short – Adam Short is possible less known than Steve and Mark but is an expert in his own right. Adam works in niche marketing and really practices what he preaches. Learn more about Adam here: Adam Short
These are just a few of the guys I like to follow. They are the real deal and their products are top notch. If you are looking to follow someone (and I suggest you do), these guys are a great place to start.
Hope you’ve found this useful!

1st September 2009 – A quick update to this post – I’ve recently been trialling Brian G Johnson’s Commission Ritual and have been getting amazing results. He is a guy that really knows his stuff so keep a close eye on him as well!

That’s quite a list, all quality mentors and gurus. It is hard to separate the truth from the fluff nowadays. A recommended list sure helps clear the smoke. I have and use some of these guys’ products. The software is great quality and very useful.

My favorite from that list is Brian Johnson. I struggled with info overload until getting hold of his course. Unbelievable value for the money. I would highly recommend his course to anyone. You should add a link to it on your site.

Aidan,
It has been a pleasure for me to watch you take my tactics and get such fantastic results. I also love the way you have updated this site, I think it looks fantastic.
Thanks for mentioning my course here on your site Aidan.

Finally, seriously and truthfully, after at least 6 years on the net, trying one product after another, I came across Commission Ritual, created by Brian Johnson.
Following Brian’s Rituals, my site is #9 out of 148,000. No rank yet and 2,000,000 position in Google. I’m in front of other sites with rank and under 400,000 position and 2-5 years old. And I know why. This stuff works. Finally I can see the light. Finally I can turn my faith into belief.
And… I launched my site on Feb 6-2010. 14 days ago. I’m also only on page 77 of Brian’s Ritual pdf.
My vote goes to Brian Johnson.
Thanks
Trevor

I would also add Brian Johnson and The Commission Ritual Course. He taught me how to get my websites into the Google top 10 using a few basic SEO strategies!
Thanks.

My vote goes to Steve Clayton whose love of research, testing and making tools that speed up the process are phenomenal. Keyword Blueprint is unbelievable for keyword research. I also love Brian Johnson; his Auto Content Cash with the WP course included gave me a jumpstart so I’ve just purchased Commission Ritual through you, Aidan. I think I’ll stick with Steve and Brian for now because it gets confusing to have too many cooks in the kitchen.
Hey Elizabeth, great decision to stick with these two. I’ve been following them both for a couple of years now and am a big fan (Im a member of Brian’s inner circle and or Stevens “IM Advantage” as well. You’re right about Steve Clayton – he has a very systematic approach and his tool rock. As for Brian, he is in the trenches like you and I making real affiliate commissions – it really appeals to me to learn from someone like him.
I have just enrolled in Brian G Johnson’s Halloween Super Affiliate. It looks really really good. I’ve also heard a lot about Steven Clayton in the past, it sounds like he is at the very top of the internet marketing game…

I see Steve Clayton has just released some SEO tools called SEO Blueprint. I’ve actually been using them for some time now as I’m a member of The IM Advantage. Steve is one guy who really knows his stuff and produces a lot of high quality products.

That’s a great list of gurus right there. Not the typical grouping that most other IM’s tend to drool over.

Great article – never knew about these guys.
But isn’t calling them “Guru’s” a bit over the line ?

These guys are definitely gurus in my opinion.
Thanks for the list. Today, it’s really hard to distinguish who among the gurus out there are sincere and true in giving advices. Some are just after of our email addresses in order to sell their expensive craps. This is really very frustrating and can be deceiving for online marketing starters.
