Using Forums To Boost Search Engine Rankings

It’s common knowledge that backlinks help your pages to climb the rankings in google. You can get backlinks to your website in a number of ways – one of which is through using forums.

I’ll cut straight to the chase, here’s how I go about getting QUALITY BACKLINKS to my website using forums.

Step 1 – Find a forum that has “dofollow” links in the signature

There are a few ways you can do this. One of which is to download the SEO tool for FireFox and search forums to see if they use dofollow links. You can get that tool here: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/seo-for-firefox.html
I won’t go into detail about how to use the tool as there is more information in the SEOBook website, but basically what the tool does is highlight links different colors depending on whether they use nofollow links or dofollow links.
Alternatively you can do a search in google for “dofollow forums” and you should be able to find a few for the niche you’re in.

Why is it so important to use forums with dofollow links? If a link is a dofollow link it will contribute to the number of links google counts when analysing your site – if not, google wont count it.

Step 2 – Making Posts

Now you’ve found a forum in your niche that uses “dofollow” links. The next thing to do is set up your profile and start adding quality comments. Never spam the forum and only link to your site in the signature panel.

Step 3 – Setting up your signature

When you set up your signature it’s important that you link to your site using a keyword oyu are targeting. If you are in the dog training niche and want to rank for the keyword “stop dog aggression” you might use a signature like the following:

“Discover how to stop dog aggression quickly and easily today!”

Notice how the anchor text is “Stop Dog Aggression”? This is very important – make sure you set your links up using this format.

Step 4 – Make more posts & join more forums

The next step is to just keep on making more useful contributions to the forum. I usually join 4 – 5 forums and make a couple of comments each week on each form. If you do this for 5 weeks you’ll even up with 40 or so quality backlinks to your site which will definitely help you move up in the search engines!

Using forums is an easy technique that works to move up the search engines rankings. If you dont have time you can easily outsrouce it at places like elance.com

Start making comments on forums today and you will seeĀ a rise in your search engine rankings!

  1. Yes, forums definitely do work. The best thing about them is that there are so many that you’ll never run out of ones to participate in.

There are a couple of other advantages: Firstly, you’ll learn quite a bit about your chosen subject as you go.

Secondly, you’ll also be developing content. If you have a look at what you’ve written after a week or two at a couple of forums, there’s bound to be the makings of some good articles. You just have to rewrite them a bit before using them (on your site or in an article directory) so that Google doesn’t think they’re copies.

  2. I’ve never had much luck with forum posts, but I guess I’ve just never created ENOUGH posts to see a difference.

The good thing about forum posts though, is overtime, I’m sure certain posts would gain pagerank.

This might be unethical, but I suppose you could also go searching for old forum topics that are already high in PR and revive them … of course, people would probably bash you for it.

  3. I have used forums before to see what kind of topic I want to write about. Oftentimes, if there is a lot of feedback on a particular discussion somewhere, I will contribute my own opinion in the form of an article. Then I will post a summary to the forum in the discussion with a link to my article.
